Circus Kinetica open studio from midday
Free event.

In this special open air screening, a short programme of artists’ film and video gives an insight into the work of kinetic sculptors from the past, as well as several working locally today.
Circus Kinetica`s studio in the basement of Embassy Court, will be open to the public before and during the event, to give a close-up view of their sculptural approach.
Upcoming artist Stephen Cornford, who recently exhibited at Brighton`s Permanent Gallery, will show a film based on his record player turntable pieces, and audio-visual artist Ian Helliwell screens a video featuring his light and sound machine, The Megatherm, along with the premiere of a new super 8 short based on the wind and solar powered sculptures of Circus Kinetica, shot on Hove seafront in the summer.
With large scale retrospectives of kinetic sculpture at London`s Hayward Gallery in 1970 and 2000, this area of visual art continues to capture the imagination, without obviously coming into or out of vogue. Kinetic sculpture has wide appeal, connecting with different senses simultaneously, and is more often than not an audio-visual medium that incorporates motion along with acoustic or electronic sound.
